Rochas Foundation Students Pay Courtesy Call on Sierra Leone High Commissioner

On August 3, 2023, over forty graduating students and staff from the Rochas Foundation College of Africa in Imo State, Nigeria, visited the Sierra Leone High Commissioner to Nigeria, HE Rupert Sydney Dowu Davies . The delegation included four Sierra Leonean female students who successfully completed their high school education through the educational scheme established by former Senator and governor of Imo State, *Rochas Okorocha. * During the meeting, HE Rupert Davies warmly welcomed the delegation and highlighted President Julius Maada Bio’s dedication to education, particularly for the girl child. As a mark of the President’s commitment to his flagship program, the Free Quality Education Scheme, received significant support, with 22 per cent of the national budget allocated to fulfill this vision. Rochas Foundation College of Africa serves as a modern co-educational boarding school, providing an optimal learning environment for five children from each African country, especially those from the most financially disadvantaged backgrounds. The educational scheme benefited Sierra Leonean students, Kamara Hajaratu Koi, Morenike Fatima, Gborie Ruth Sia, and Turay Zuliaka Kadija, thanks to the assistance of Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Bio. Ms. Uchechi Rochas , the Director General of Rochas Foundation, praised the comprehensive and high-quality educational opportunities provided by the institution, specifically designed for intelligent and talented underprivileged African children, who would otherwise be unable to access education due to financial constraints. The High Commissioner and the entire diplomatic staff at the Sierra Leone High Commission in Nigeria were commended for their hospitality and cooperation. Both parties expressed their commitment to strengthening partnership and collaboration. Deputy High Commissioner Anna Moussa also commended the Rochas Foundation for its significant contributions in providing the right education to children, enabling them to become valuable citizens and contribute to the development of their respective countries.
