Beijing Global Safety Technology to invest in Sierra Leone

A Chinese based Company called Global Safety (GSAFETY) has expressed keen interest to invest in the Republic of Sierra Leone. The GSAFETY is a technologically driven company primarily focusing on providing comprehensive public safety emergency response products and solutions. This development came during a courtesy visit by the Nigeria High Commissioner to the Republic of Sierra Leone H.E. Henry John Omaku to his counterpart, the High Commissioner of Sierra Leone to Nigeria H.E. Rupert Dowu Davies, on Wednesday 30 August, 2023 at Plot 308 Diplomatic Drive in Abuja. In his remark H.E. Henry John Omaku first congratulated the Government of Sierra Leone for conducting a peaceful election. He stated that Sierra Leone and Nigeria are brothers because both countries have made sacrifices for each other for mutual benefits. He underscored the pathway to sustainable peace adding that there are plans to bring all parties together in Sierra Leone to a round table in order to discuss the ugly incident of non participation of political party MPs in governance. The Managing Director of the GSAFETY Company Ltd. Lingling Duan said that they are currently operating in Nigeria and have resolved to expand their project to Sierra Leone. She said with funding support from the Chinese Government, they will establish an emergency command center for Sierra Leone that integrates early warning, quick and effective response and emergency management of natural disasters, accidents and other emergencies. Through the E-Government, Madam Lingling Duan said they will improve on digital development such as E-Records and archives , tax and customs, administration, Data Center, E-Identification and lifeline safety through comprehensive and integrated public safety and security solutions. Briefing his counterpart, High Commissioner Rupert Davies commended the goodwill gesture and praised the support Sierra Leone continues to enjoy from Nigeria in the area of development projects and investments among others which he described as an indication of the collaboration between the two countries. He referenced the support Sierra Leone gained from Nigeria for the UN Security bid which he said is a testament of the strong bilateral ties between Nigeria and Sierra Leone. High Commissioner Davies informed his counterpart that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria H. E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the President of Sierra Leone H.E. Julius Maada Bio had an excellent bilateral engagement during the recent ECOWAS Extraordinary meeting in Abuja. He said their engagement was aimed at strengthening, consolidating and fostering development in the two countries.

In her remark, the Deputy High Commissioner Anna Moussa thanked High Commissioner Amaku for acknowledging the role of the Sierra Leone High commission in Nigeria by introducing his business partners to the High Commissioner of Sierra Leone. The investors are set to travel to Sierra Leone early next Month for further engagements with the Government of Sierra Leone.
