Victor Abdulai Sheriff Replaces Mohamed Sorie Conteh as Head of Chancery in Nigeria
Victor Abdulai Sheriff has officially assumed duties as Minister Counsellor and Head of Chancery of the Sierra Leone High Commission in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
At the general meeting that was convened for the purpose on Wednesday, June 15th 2022, the High Commissioner of Sierra Leone to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Rupert Dowu Davies, welcomed the incoming Minster Counsellor and Head of Chancery before formally introducing him to the diplomatic and local staff of the High Commission.
The High Commissioner briefed the incoming HOC on the work of the Mission and expressed confidence that the new HOC, Victor Sheriff, with his enormous experience from within the diplomatic arena, will succeed in adding value to the work of the Sierra Leone High Commission in Nigeria.
The High Commissioner added that it would be a matter of great satisfaction for everyone to be working together to produce the desired best results on behalf of the people and government of Sierra Leone.
After he had been introduced to staff of the Sierra Leone High Commission, Victor Sheriff was given the opportunity to address all diplomatic and local staff.
In his succinct and eloquent speech, he expressed kind sentiments about his colleague the outgoing Minister Counsellor and Head of Chancery Mohamed Sorie Conteh whom he described as a steadfast diplomat.
Mr. Sheriff went on to say that he will follow the good precedents that the outgoing Head of Chancery has set to create a difference and continue to foster a friendly diplomatic relation in Nigeria and in other accredited nations.
He encouraged all staff of the High Commission to embrace the spirit of teamwork and friendly working relations on behalf of the High Commission, stating his readiness to promote the agenda of the Sierra Leone High Commission in Nigeria on behalf of the people and government of Sierra Leone.
The incoming Minister Counsellor and Head of Chancery is an accomplished career diplomat with a very strong pedigree.
He has served in several capacities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sierra Leone and in foreign missions including in the African Division as Director Africa.
In 2006 he was posted to the Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in Conakry, Republic of Guinea as the First Secretary and Head of Chancery.
After serving diligently, Victor Abdulai Sheriff was recalled to Freetown and positioned in the consular division and later transferred to the protocol division to serve as the Deputy Director of Protocol.
The incoming Head of Chancery was also Chief of Protocol, the position he assumed in 2014. Part of his responsibilities, in that position, was to work directly with the presidency.
Victor Abdulai Sheriff who has served in different diplomatic tours, including New York, is now on his third diplomatic tour in Nigeria where he would be serving as the Counsellor and Head of Chancery.
