Nigeria Military General praises High Commissioner Davies for supporting the hosting of big confab in Freetown

The Vice President of the organization of Military Sports in Africa and a serving personnel in the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Major General Maikano Abdulahi, has expressed much admiration for the Sierra Leone High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria Rupert Sydney Duwo Davies for his proactive leadership and for supporting the initiative for the hosting of military sport Council General Assembly in Sierra Leone.
The military General expressed this view on Tuesday morning January 25th at the Sierra Leone High Commission Located on Plot 308 at the Diplomatic Zone in Abuja, Nigeria following his team’s recent visit to Sierra Leone.
Sierra Leone’s membership of the sports council had remained dormant for over a decade but has now been reactivated and the country will be hosting the biggest military sports general assembly in Freetown, scheduled for 17th to 27th February 2022.
Major General Maikano Abdulahi stated that their visit to Sierra Leone was exciting and very promising because they were able to engage all the relevant authorities like the Chief of Defence Staff, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and above all the presidency of the Republic of Sierra Leone, to discuss pathways ahead for the hosting of a general assembly meeting of the organization of Military Sports in Africa.


He disclosed that twenty countries in Africa including 31 top military personnels from Nigeria have already consented to participate in the event in Freetown adding that an invitation has been extended to the High Commission of Sierra Leone in the Federal Republic of Nigeria to participate.
Major General Maikano Abdulahi also presented a pair of sporting jersey to the High Commissioner before decorating him with the OSMA Insignia which he said was designed in 1942 and is still being judiciously utilized.
On his part, High Commissioner Rupert Davies first thanked Major General Maikaino Abdulahi and team for their commendable efforts and unflinching commitments in making prior arrangements for the hosting of the General Assembly in Freetown.
He stated that he was delighted for Sierra Leone to be prioritized among other nations in Africa to host the conference adding that the dreams and aspirations of president Dr. Julius Maada Bio is to expand and consolidate existing bilateral and multilateral relationships and to create gateways of opportunities for the entire citizenry of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
“His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio is very passionate about sports and sporting activities and he will be more than happy to work with the African Continental Sports Association to promote Peace in Sierra Leone”, High commissioner Davies stated.
He assured Major General Maikaino Abdulahi of a strong collaboration in promoting their mutual interests.
In attendance were the Head of Chancery Mohamed Sorie Conteh and the Defence Attaché Alhaji M. M. Gbassa who also received a set of sporting jersey from Major General Maikaino Abdulahi on behalf of OSMA.
